2011 IT Show @ Suntec (Singapore)

IMG_1730 Today (June 12) is the last day of Singapore’s IT Show held at Suntec Convention Center! I went there yesterday and I tell you it is jam packed. Even before you reach the actual venue, you’d already meet a lot of people carrying large bags and boxes of gadgets – indicating where they had gone to. People are coming in and out as if it was the last IT show in Singapore. Lol.

Well, I had the pleasure and pain of joining the crowd. There are four areas where the show is being held. There’s a big poster (shown in the pic above) near the entrance of convention center that lists brands present in the show. IMG_1725

Level 4 and 6 are the actual exhibition halls containing a lot of brands. At the 4th level you’ll see a lot of computers (laptops, desktops) and LCD/LED TV’s. At the 6th level you’ll find computer accessories and other tech appliances.

The best things about these IT shows, aside from the marked down prices are the freebies. Unlike if you buy it in a store somewhere else, you’d probably only get discounted prices. Here you not only get items that are sometimes half of their original prices (or even lower), you also get to have a lot of free items. For example, a digital camera would come with bags, extra battery, extra memory cards and extended warranty among other things.

IMG_1726 One other thing to note about the IT show is the auction. Brands/suppliers, from time to time would auction some of their items starting from a really low price – like 75% off. There was one auction for an LED TV that was sold at a price lower than an LCD TV and an iPod Touch for a quarter of its original price.

I’ve heard one good tip from a fellow consumer: prices usually go down much lower during the last day since the sellers would want to clear all or most of the products out.

2011-06-12_1318381 Today is the last day and it is a Sunday, so expect it to be more crowded than the past few days (since it started last Thursday).

Anyway, there will probably a series of shows/sales similar to this one within the year. If not, there’s always next year’s show.

By the way, if you’re wondering: i didn’t buy anything. I was just there to see what to buy the next time i get my paycheck. Haha.

Enjoy your Sunday!
