7 Easy Steps to Buying Online and Using a Forwarder

Image
tags: online shopping, amazon, comgateway, forwarder, US to Singapore, shipping to singapore, US to Asia Getting trapped in your room with an internet connection and your credit card really is quite a dangerous thing. It’s fun, though! On-line shopping is now really a common thing, and with websites like Amazon or eBay, it is just as easy and quite addicting (against the futile complaints from my budget). However, there are some cases where the item that you want (which often isn’t available where you live) cannot be shipped to your destination. These items, especially for Amazon can only be shipped in the US or the UK. And, without a US address, you’re left with a stronger longing for that product (and an itchy card). Enter forwarders to the rescue! Forwarders are actually shipping companies (or one of their constituents) that allows you to order online, accept the deliveries and then forward it to your destination of choice. They act as a sort of ‘stop over’ for your online pur...

I’ve Chosen My Side: Cylon (Ride)!

tags: Universal Studios Singapore, Battlestar Gallactica, Cylon, Rollercoaster, Resorts World, Sentosa, The Mummy, USS What an awesome thrill ride! That was what I could think of about the Battlestar Gallactica Cylon (Blue) Ride at Universal Studios Singapore. Finding my way down the exit way from that ride while all dizzy and out of balance, I thought this was one ride that no one should miss if they wanted the ‘thrill’ rides at Sentosa’s movie theme park. It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve been to Singapore but this is the first time I got to visit Universal Studios (thanks to Jubay/Renz for the FREE tickets. hehe) . I have only USJ (Japan) to compare, but the theme park here is quite small. Also, it didn’t have the ‘Spiderman’ ride (or something similar) which I think is the best ride ever. However, visiting USS is still worth it. And, that is thanks mainly to two thrill rides: the Mummy and Battlestar Gallactica. (not sure about the Jurassic Park rides as I didn’t get to try...

COMEX IT Show this September 2011

tags: COMEX, IT Show, Singapore, Technology, Gadgets, PC Show, Computers, September 2011 The next and the biggest IT Show (Consumer Tech) in Singapore is coming this September! Woot woot! The COMEX will be held at Suntec Level 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6 on September 1st~4th. Operating hours will 12NN~9PM. I’m sure it’s going to be jam-packed again (as usual)! This time, I’m ready to get my hands on my target Lenovo B520 All-In-One. I’m so excited, that a few days of waiting seems like a lifetime. The COMEX website here , have the event schedule up. Go check it out. It’s going to be less than a week from now, so some time to catch up on the latest tech trends and consider which next gadget to add as part of our ‘basic needs’ list. Hehe. Good luck hunting!

2011 IT Show @ Suntec (Singapore)

Image
Today (June 12) is the last day of Singapore’s IT Show held at Suntec Convention Center! I went there yesterday and I tell you it is jam packed. Even before you reach the actual venue, you’d already meet a lot of people carrying large bags and boxes of gadgets – indicating where they had gone to. People are coming in and out as if it was the last IT show in Singapore. Lol.  Well, I had the pleasure and pain of joining the crowd. There are four areas where the show is being held. There’s a big poster (shown in the pic above) near the entrance of convention center that lists brands present in the show. Level 4 and 6 are the actual exhibition halls containing a lot of brands. At the 4th level you’ll see a lot of computers (laptops, desktops) and LCD/LED TV’s. At the 6th level you’ll find computer accessories and other tech appliances.

Perk up your photos with 100 Cameras In 1 (iPhone)

Image
Spending an almost unlimited amount of time surfing the net and checking out new apps to tinker, i’ve found another one that can help me cope with boredom:  100 Cameras In 1. It’s a free little app that allows you to modify your photos, applying several (of the 100 filters) themes. It basically enhances your photos, like the one i did above.

14 Stations at High Street

Image
disclaimer: i’m not promoting anything with this post. it’s actually the first time i found out about ChurchSimplified. this post is just to tell you what is happening at High St. where i live nearby. Every year (it seems), BGC’s High Street plays host to ChurchSimplified ’s 14 Stations program. This is obviously not a ‘Bisita Iglesia’ as the venue does not involve any church for you to visit. In this platform, you have several ‘exhibit-like’ setup for each of the 14 Stations, all throughout the length of High St. Each station features at least a panel that explains the station and the ‘Act’ that participants can perform to internalize and contribute for the message and reason of that particular station. Some stations are simple explanations that you can just read and contemplate. Others are a bit more extravagant, featuring several degrees of involvement from the participants.

First-time @ Running Events: Some Tips

Image
On a sunny Sunday morning of April 10, National Geographic held their NatGeo Earth Day run at Bonifacio Global City. This is my first race after a very long time (like years time). This is quite different by the sheer size of the event – more than 10000 registered and it feels like most of them actually did join the run that day. I’m actually the 10448th to register, two weeks prior to the race-date. Since this is hosted by National Geographic, the race is quite high-profile with lots of runners and sponsors. I’ve never been to this big a racing event and was pleasantly surprised with what I’ve experienced. Even as an ignorant first-timer, i had loads of fun. Here are some tips that can help others who are planning to join a running event:

Running at BGC

Image
The good thing about running and racing is that all you basically need is a good pair of shoes and a well-paved (or equivalent) road. Practically anyone, at any age can do it but, i guess one of the triggers why it boomed is the availability of areas to run on. I mean, you can’t just run anywhere especially here in Manila. This is where Bonifacio Global City (BGC) plays a very good niche. When this city opened (as i have lived in the area for so long), the public just started running on its then grassy lawns and almost-free of traffic roads. It had very little traffic and pollution and was really safe as there aren’t so much people then, plus the area employs it’s own security personnel.

Addicted to Running: Joining Fun Runs

Image
Fun runs and races are the new fad these days (for Pinoys). It used to be badminton, awhile back. Sometime ago, badminton became the favorite past time of everyone from office-goers to celebrities. Badminton courts started sprouting like mushrooms everywhere. Now, after just a few short years, the craze just seem to have died out (along with the closing down of most courts) – to be replaced by Fun Runs. Now, races happen almost every weekend in areas like Bonifacio Global City (BGC), SM Mall of Asia grounds and even the Skyway!
