Transforming for the Third Time

review of the movie “Transformers : Dark of the Moon”.
this time, no spoilers, just my full on review/comments.

transformers01I really had to see this movie on it's premier night - regardless if the only available schedule was at midnight.
Transformers 3 is one of the most anticipated movies this year and for most - it was worth the wait. Sure, we will always have the haters and the bashers but it's a movie i would recommend to go watch and see for yourself.

The movie is almost 2 1/2 hours (longer than the first 2). However, that time is well spent on the screen as it is a visual feast of robots transforming and bashing each other. It's full of cars (vintage, current and alien), aircrafts, space crafts and mammoth machines that fill the screen in 3D glory.

It has all the same elements of the first two in the series - well, of course without Megan Fox, this time. At this third installment, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) has a new girl (a British one). I'm just glad they added a 'new' character instead of pretending that nobody would noticed the brunette was now a blonde.

<again no spoilers, since you can basically deduce this from the trailers>
transformers02 The main plot leverages on the discovery of an Autobot ship during the Space Race era. the race to the moon was actually triggered, when the government detected an alien ship crashing on the dark-side of the moon (hence the title). a series of events from this discovery have been held in secret by the US government/military until the Autobots found out. Shortly after, all hell breaks loose on Earth.

transformers03 The story is a typical Transformers one, having the all the qualities that we loved (or hated) from the first two. There's the epic background story, fight for humanity, plot to destroy/take over the Earth, love of cars, government conspiracy, military action/rebellion, hero antics, robot antics, love story on the side (although, not as strong this time) - all packaged in an extreme eye-candy.

It’s a very long movie, indeed but all worth it. i thought it would be a brain-numbing experience to sit at the cinema that long but it was really fun! In fact, the audience at the cinema gave an applause at the end – that’s saying something about the movie, right?!
Of course, don’t expect this to be an Oscar Awards-winning film! It’s a blockbuster movie meant to be enjoyed and for a dissertation topic. Lol.

I watched the 3D version but i felt like the glasses were a distraction from the visual feast. I probably would have enjoyed it as much, or even more if i had seen the (non-3D) digital version.

My recommendation: buy a big popcorn, go pee, then watch the movie. hehe.

Happy watching!
