Preparing to go to SG

So, you've decided with all your heart, beyond the shadow of any doubt that you're going to SG!
Well, it's okay if you have doubts and worries. Actually, it is normal that you won't be 100% sure. Just 'mostly convinced' should be enough.
Of course, at this time, i would assume that you already have considered your options in the Philippines (or in other countries) and have an intelligent and well-informed decision (for this one, wag i-asa lahat kay batman. hehe).
Here are some tips BEFORE that fateful day of flight to SG.
Again, we are taking this one step at a time..
1. Check for available flights
Tickets to SG is now really cheap - thanks to budget airlines (Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, Tiger). They are budget flights, yes, but it will only at max take 4 hours (excluding the boarding/waiting time). And, coming from Manila or similar cities in PH, that's actually a common experience when travelling. Just think of it as being in a 'luxurious' bus stuck in traffic along EDSA during rush hour.
(well, luxurious to PH bus standards)

Just make sure you book the tickets early. If possible, at least 2 months before the actual flight. However, if you're in a hurry you can always get a ticket 2 weeks from flight date. It would be expensive (probably not sale fare) but still bearable.
Once you've found a desired date, then let's proceed to book your tickets.

2. Book your tickets online
Whoooppsss!! Don't book your tickets just yet! Hehe
Read thru my other posts (the succeeding ones) before booking your flight. You need to plan ahead (i.e. budget, accommodation, interview schedules).
Once you've done all the necessary preparation for your stay, then do go back here.
However, if you have that gene of being impulsive at times, you can book your tickets early and plan/prepare while your flight date hasn't come yet. So, if you followed tip 1, then that should give you at least 1 to 2 months before your flight..
OR if you're like me, 2 weeks to prepare. Lol.
Now, you can book your tickets online. Okay, here's the real deal.
It is far better to book it online, because of the following:
  • tickets are usually cheaper
  • easier to buy the tickets
  • easier to rebook
There are other reasons of course, and i'll be posting a separate discussion on that. For now, here are the links to the current budget fare airlines:
I'm not saying that these are your only options. You always have the regular flight airlines (i.e. PAL). However, for budget airlines, i specifically like AirPhil.
I would also suggest that you use your own credit card for booking.
3. Prepare for your flight. You would need to ensure you have the following things already acquired and setup, ready to be shipped with you to SG:     - Passport (duh)     - Tickets (whole itinerary, printed out)     - Credit Card or International ATM Card     - Job Documents (Resume, Diploma, Certificates)     - Pocket Money     - Your personal things (clothes, toiletries, but don't bring too much) The above are the minimum you would need to prepare. Remember, if you're aiming to go as a tourist first, then try to look like a tourist. Don't bring too many things - that would cause suspicion to the Immigration officer (both here and there).
I’ll soon be posting details info regarding things to bring with you, how much money you should bring, dealing with Airport people (Immigrations Officers), etc. So, please read on (and post comments).
