Star Trek 2013: 3D or Not?

Image
Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) Wow! This movie just packs a whopping wow! (of course, being a Star Trek fan i would still have said wow even without seeing it first). I just think this movie is awesome and really worth the watch (and re-watch), but i won’t make a review just to avoid writing a post that would probably sound like a screeching fan girl. Instead, let me just answer a very simple question which i proposed at the very title: Should i watch Star Trek (2013) in 3D or not? I will let the the font size compensate the lack of details to justify my answer: 3D or not? NO. but, you should watch it in iMAX! iMAX or iMAX 3D is fine, so long as it is iMAX. Yes, you heard (or read) it right. You should catch this movie in iMAX but not for the 3D effect. Watch it there because of it’s sheer grandiose. The movie just boasts a ton of epic scenes that a regular cinema simply won’t be able to justify. The 3D is really nice, especially at the first few minutes in the movie but y...

Movie Review: Rurouni Kenshin

Image
(the Samurai X movie, 2012) Coolness expressed in anime-stylized form! This movie just wreaks of awesomeness - in both its dark and funny moments. I can't deny how much of a fan i am about 'Rurouni' or Samurai X - if you are more familiar with the English dubbed anime. It's one of the first anime that i loved and actually, the very first manga that i bought - and, this movie not only reminded me of the reasons why but roused the obsessed fanboy in me! I'm practically giggling with excitement just writing this review.

How to Change Windows Live Writer Save Location (and sync it with Dropbox)

Image
I seem to be doing this a lot of times now: manually changing Windows Live Writer save location so it points to my Dropbox folder. I’m a huge fan of this two programs/services. I don’t know about the future of Live Writer but i’d probably be using it still for a long time. And, to those who have been using it for sometime now, would know that one of its biggest limitation is that it doesn’t allow you to change the location where it saves your local drafts/posts. You can always go the slightly hard way. Set the links manually to dropbox. i guess it’s the normal way, which isn’t really difficult, only a hassle. So, to save myself of the same hassle every time – i’ve created a simple tool to automate it. I’m posting this app for anyone who might need it as well. Here it is. https://sites.google.com/site/mickeymicks/DropTo.Dropbox.zip?attredirects=0&d=1 Just download the zip and extract in your desired folder. Please extract everything – not just the EXE file. Then run the DropTo.D...

Movie Review: Resident Evil : Retribution (2012)

Image
Tags: Movie Review, Resident Evil, Retribution Forget the story, just enjoy this movie as the wild-action ride that it is! That statement should sum up my opinion about the movie – which i enjoyed really well. This 5th instalment of the Resident Evil (RE) series of movies delivers little when it comes to story and depth but makes up with effects and badass action sequences. I guess this is to be expected as that is the direction of the series since it’s first instalment came out in 2002. The first one had most of the gist and mystery, then losing those components subtly in the succeeding movies.

7 Easy Steps to Buying Online and Using a Forwarder

tags: online shopping, amazon, comgateway, forwarder, US to Singapore, shipping to singapore, US to Asia Getting trapped in your room with an internet connection and your credit card really is quite a dangerous thing. It’s fun, though! On-line shopping is now really a common thing, and with websites like Amazon or eBay, it is just as easy and quite addicting (against the futile complaints from my budget). However, there are some cases where the item that you want (which often isn’t available where you live) cannot be shipped to your destination. These items, especially for Amazon can only be shipped in the US or the UK. And, without a US address, you’re left with a stronger longing for that product (and an itchy card). Enter forwarders to the rescue! Forwarders are actually shipping companies (or one of their constituents) that allows you to order online, accept the deliveries and then forward it to your destination of choice. They act as a sort of ‘stop over’ for your online pur...

Movie Review: Prometheus

Image
Tags: Movie Review, Prometheus, alien, origin of man, space, 2001 space odyssey Really, really had high hopes for this movie. Especially, when it had Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender (Magneto from X-Men: First Class) – all in a space-mystery, sci-fi glory. <minor spoilers ahead> The movie became quirky enough at the beginning with a ‘humanoid’ ingesting something and then dying. Then it’s just downhill from there. Without the special effects, i would have left the cinema already.
